(Holdrege) – The Central Nebraska Public Power & Irrigation District has announced that a hydrocycling period will begin on March 18 at the Johnson No. 2 Hydroplant located south of Lexington and will run to April 30.
During this period, the water level at Johnson Lake usually fluctuates by up to two feet as operations are modified to minimize the rate of flow changes into the Platte River. Hydrocycling takes place each spring and fall as required by an agreement with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services.
