The Kingsley Dam Foreman will plan and execute the operation and maintenance of the Kingsley Dam area which includes Lake McConaughy, Lake Ogallala, Kingsley Dam, and Kingsley Hydro. The foreman assists with the supervision over two additional full-time employees, occasional temporary personnel, independent contractors and/or other District crews. Operate and perform maintenance on the control works and other facilities at Kingsley Dam to regulate water releases as required. Interacts with the public and represents the District in the Kingsley Dam area.
Duties will include: maintaining, monitoring and inspecting Kingsley Dam for safety and facilities management; interacting and providing education to visitors of the dam; working cooperatively with local landowners, county and state officials and employees of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission; performing general office work like record keeping, filing, inventory, time sheets and equipment usage records; handling petty cash and local purchase orders; performing routine maintenance to District facilities, residences, outlet structures, vehicles, and other equipment; assisting with electrical and mechanical maintenance on generators, turbines and auxiliary equipment in the hydro plant; utilizing test equipment to troubleshoot failures; assisting in the installation of conduit and wiring in District facilities.
Work environment includes natural hazards associated with working around water, excavations and field construction, walking and working in steep sloped terrain, dense vegetation and variable weather, and occasional uncontrollable interruptions to planned work. A strong physical, emotional and mental stamina are required, along with robust interpersonal communications skills to interact with District personnel and outside agencies.
